Springer Spaniel is an intelligent dog who catch on to new things easily. The Springer Spaniel is an ideal dog for country or city life. Springers are people pleasers. They love to be around people, and they are energetic, loving companions. Many owner find humor in their energetic and playful animals that bring a smile to their faces. Springers are excellent all around dogs. Good training can bring excellent results in many fields, including agility, tracking, retrieving, obedience, hunting, and field trials. They are great with children and are an excellent pick for families. Children should be supervised with all breeds of dogs.

Springers are quite friendly, and eager to please their owners. There are people who use the sweet temperament of a Golden Retriever to describe the Springer’s personality. If it is what their families are doing, they are perfectly content with just laying around the house. Human contact helps them to adjust and adapt to different levels of activity. As a breeder we have raised many puppies and we can personally definitely testify to their high levels of affection!

As a breed, the English Springer Spaniel is a medium sized sporting dog, and can weigh anywhere from 35-55 pounds at adulthood. They are typically healthy dogs that live happy lives that average about 10-14 years on average. Field bred Spingers have short hair and are generally more active than the show bred types. All Springers have their tails docked shortly after birth, but the length of the tail differs between two “lifestyles.” The tails are docked shorter for Springers who are shown, whereas the working, field-bred Springers have longer tails so as to be an efficient signal for hunting.

A purebred English Springer Spaniel has a coat color of either liver and white or black and white. A tri-color combination exists, charactized by a liver, white, and black coat, but this combination occurs infrequently and only results when the sire and dam are both tri-color as well. A white mark down the middle distinguishes them.

English Springer Spaniels were bred to be natural hunters with a lot of energy, so you can expect your Springer to enjoy running around, sniffing out “game,”and retrieving things for you. Springers are happy to spend all day outside with their masters, they love water and are not particularly sensitive to weather in general. Because they are an old breed, they have been a favorite canine for many years. These canines are often regarded as one of the oldest and best established gun dog and hunting breeds.

So I hope you can see why we think Springers are a wonderful fit for many different situations, lifestyles, and families. These loving animals can find a place in anyones heart and home which is something we have experienced.
